Another fun fact about health care. The last time I started my chemo I was given a prescription for a medication that I was told to take one the day before chemo. Then take another one the day of chemo and then one after chemo. Since it is now Tuesday and I have not been given any script, I called Dr. Adami's office to see what was up. Of course you can't talk directly to anyone. You have to leave a message telling them your full name, spelled out, your date of birth, what Dr. you are seeing, and what is your question. So I take the time to do everything I've been told to do and then I get a message that once they have reviewed my file they would be back to me with an answer.
It's now two hours later and I get a call from the PHONE NURSE, doesn't that sound dirty. Like you have to pay $3.50 and hour to talk to the Phone Nurse. Well any way, this one is brilliant. The first thing she asks is "What do you need? I then asked if she had my file in front of her. No she said, I usually can answer most questions without it. So I told her about the pills before during and after chemo. She immediately responds, I'll send something to the pharmacy. Which one do you use. I then asked what is the prescription for? She gave me the name and said it for nausea etc. for when I take the Takatear. I then explained that I was not scheduled to get that this week. She then says well then ask the nurse when you come in to have some ready for you for next week.
If I had not asked what was the medication for, she would have had me taking this stuff this week and probably nothing next week when I actually do need it. I then said I remembered taking something last the last time before the first round of chemo. Her answer, well maybe they did the same thing last time. I don't know why someone would have told you to take this the first week. She then asked if I got sick the last time. I said that I did get sick. She said it should not have been from the chemo, maybe you just ate something bad, yea, like the pills I should not have taken. That would never happen.
Just remember you have to ask questions. You have to know what they are going to do and what can you expect. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't forget my motto: IYLTTWPOY.
Butler gave those Blue Devils all they wanted. You could have made a bundle if you took Butler and the points. They have a lot to be proud of.
Two more days until it starts all over again. I just pray the CT Scan shows no more sacroma's and no larger.
See ya, Tom
