This has not been a good week for my classmates of LCC. First it was Kathy Quinn Lynch and yesterday it was Carol Prenezio Fleichman. Both were friends of my since grade school.
For my family, Carol was the daughter of the husband and wife that owned the clothing store up on Allentown rd. they sold mostly children's clothes. Mom would take me and you guys and go cloth shopping. One of the first times I went in I saw Carol and recognized that we went to school together. I can't remember if she actually worked in the store or if she was just the a lot. Over the next few years we became better friends and always talked at school and when mom went shopping I would always volunteer to go with her. Moe, I remember going with you more than David and Larry. You never liked anything and hated putting on clothes. I doughty that you remember her, but she was a very nice young lady.
It is sad to see people under 70 passing away from things that I think had to do with that damn refinery. John and Dan Bowler both worked their and they both died of cancer. So many people in Lima have died of similar problems. Strokes and heart attacks, cancer, you name it, much can be linked back to that awful smoke and junk that they spued out of that place. I remember as a kid stepping in some kind of toxic junk that ate the bottom of my shoes off. Some one then told us to get the hell out of there and never come back in here again. Sometime after that the entire place was fenced off. I'm sure it was a dumping grounds for toxic waste of some kind.
If everyone that reads this blog would say a prayer for their souls I would appreciate it. Also say a prayer for anyone that lived their in Lima and may have a serious health issue.
This is day two for me after chemo and so far I feel OK but not great. My BS was 495 last night but down to 185 this morning. I had to take a large dose of insulin last night to bring it down. My BP was 135/70 and HR 83. I started with that cough again but am going to the drug store to pick up a script to take care of that.
More tomorrow. Love Tom
