It a little later that I start most of my blogs, but I have had an exciting 18 hours and will fill you in. It started last night at about 6:30pm when Catie and 4 of her friends showed up for a small get together. It seems Emely Feltz decided to announce who was going to be in her October Wedding. All I really remember is what, and how, it effected me. As you all know, this thing is about yours truly. If it's not important to me, it's just not important. Cate was named as Em's Maid of Honor or is Made of Honor. Anyway that means that Sharon will have to be home a few days before the wedding to help Cate with all of her responsibilities. What that means to me is, we are going to be in Cabo that week. I let Em know how I felt about her choice of dates. For some reason she didn't feel the need to change the dates to accommodate me. That calls for her name being removed from the bed in Catie's bed room. It's been there since 7 grade. Hay, you cross me and you pay big time.
Also along for the party were three of Catie's closest friends. Christine, Bobby, and Erica. Cate said she came home to see me, and I love her for that, but then she went out somewhere with those girls and I didn't hear from them again until about 3am. Unfortunately an old fart like me doesn't sleep very well after being awakened in the middle of the night. I didn't say anything because I love all of them, and was happy to have them back in the house again. While Cate was growing up, the McLaughlin household was party starting central. It seems they would all meet over here and then take off for parts unknown. The next morning, as in this morning, you would usually find them somewhere in the house trying to sleep. Being a good dad, I decided to grab a bit on the run rather than to try and make breakfast in the kitchen. It would have been turn around time for sure, but again, I love having them around.
What I loved was the note that they left for Sharon. It was their breakfast order from the Essen House. Sharon was up and out at 7am as usual and they expected her to return with breakfast around 10am because they were heading back to Indy as soon as they finished breakfast. It was sad to see them go, but we will be back in Indy on Friday for the results of my scan.
At about 12:30 Tom Whitney showed up and we had a real great time talking about old time and just about anything but politics. It seems Tom is somewhat Liberal, and I am Conservative. I think he was aware of that when he saw the life size cut out of Sarah Palin in the TV room. He did stay until 2:30 when Tom McLaughlin had to get his nap so he could continue his day. He was able to see another friend of his who also lives in Fort Wayne, so the day worked out just right. He came back to my place around 5pm, we talked a while and then went to my favorite place for dinner, Wendy's. Hay, when I'm buying, we go first class or not at all. We did talk about the 50th. class reunion and how much fun it will be if everyone shows up. Neither of us could figure out though how so many of our classmates have gray hair. Some of them even look older. It is amazing what time does.
Tom just left so I'll complete the blog for the night. Until tomorrow. Tom
